Back Pain Treatments and Tips That Work

My name is Jason Dawson and if you have chronic back pain, I'm glad that you've found my blog. After an accident, I suffered with back pain for several years until I started visiting a chiropractor. I could tell a difference in the severity of my back pain after only a few treatments. I continued seeing the chiropractor on a regular basis and today my back pain is gone. When I had excruciating back pain, I couldn't enjoy any physical activities and some days I could barely walk. I'm writing this blog so that I can help others who have back pain. In my blog you'll learn about chiropractors and how they can help you. You'll also learn some things that you can do at home that will lessen the pain in your back.

Rolfing Technique: How It Works

by Nandy Dannenberg

Poor posture can lead to all kinds of pains and strains throughout your body. Your body can fall out of its natural vertical alignment when your connective tissue is stretched and damaged as misaligned body parts pull downward due to the poor posture. Your entire body can begin to feel sluggish – a feeling that also affects your psychological well-being. Rolfing is a massaging technique that is designed to improve your posture and connective tissue to help you move and feel better. Here is a quick overview on how the Rolfing massage technique can bring your body back into a vertical alignment.

Initial Examination

Your chiropractor will have you stand, walk, and sit so she can observe how your body moves and functions. The chiropractor is particularly interested in looking for parts of your physical structure that are out of alignment – like dropping shoulders, or your head and neck leaning forward and downward.

By observing your physical movements, your chiropractor will develop a connective tissue massaging plan to relieve your symptoms of bad posture.

Connective Tissue

Unlike a regular message that works to ease your muscles and improve blood flow, Rolfing massage techniques focus on the connective tissue that runs throughout your body. The connective tissue is what holds the body together internally. Your muscles and bones are all interconnected via connective tissue.

For example, you might be having neck pain, but the real problem can be that the connective tissue in your knees and ankles has been pulled out of shape. Therefore, the chiropractor will treat the connective tissue that is misaligned in your knees and feet to relieve your neck pain.

Rolfing Technique

The Rolfing technique is designed to bring your body back into a vertical alignment from the top of your head, through your abdominal region, and down through your legs. Your chiropractor will perform deep massages to smooth out the fascia adhesions (these are areas where the bonding tissues in your body have developed scarring due to injuries or strains) to loosen up the tissue and allow it to adjust back into its natural position.

Your chiropractor needs to separate the connective tissue that has been pulled out of its natural position by performing a deep massage. You should expect to experience some pain and discomfort while your chiropractor presses down hard on your body in order to reach and massage the connective tissue.

The entire process usually takes up to ten visits before your posture can be restored and you can feel the physical and psychological changes.

If you have posture problems that are causing you to feel pain and discomfort, you should visit your local chiropractor to learn more about the Rolfing technique and how it can change your life. Contact a center like The Healing Center to learn more.
